Freeport is located in Northwestern
Illinois, 118 miles west of Chicago and 96 miles northeast of the
Quad Cities. Freeport’s citizens are proud of their community’s
rich heritage and celebrate its past through many events sponsored
by the Stephenson County Historical Society and Freeport Area Chamber
of Commerce.
There is plenty to see and do in Freeport: fine dining, historical
sites and museums, and quaint shopping. Freeport enjoys a vibrant
downtown business district and department store anchored malls on
the outskirts of the city. Freeport is very proud to be home for Highland
Community College.

Park District, 2 golf courses, the Freeport Art Museum and Cultural
