Q. What is the advantage of selling my home and purchasing a Villa?
A. Many advantages. First of all, you are downsizing and eliminating exterior maintenance. You are now going to enjoy the retirement you have dreamed about.
   
Q. What is the continuum of care offered when you purchase a Villa?
A. Upon the purchase of a Villa, this means that when the time comes when you may have to downsize further to an apartment or go to our Assisted Living facility or our Nursing Home, you are a priority admission. You or your family do not have to look further for placement or worry about a wait list for entry.
   
Q. Who pays the real estates taxes?
A. Your real estate taxes are prorated the first year, and they become the responsibility of the individual owner thereafter.
   
Q. Is there a maintenance fee and what does it cover?
A. The Home Owner Association provides lawn care and snow removal for your Villa. There is a monthly fee for these services.
   
Q. Are pets allowed in a Villa?
A. Yes, please check with the manager for restrictions.
   
Q. Are the Villas age restrictive?
A. Yes, they are. One person of a couple must be 55 to reside in a Villa.
   
Q. What privileges are offered with the purchase of a Villa?
A. You are welcome to join any activities at our other facilities, use the scheduled transportation, or designated common areas on the campus.

Q. Is there an endowment fee?
A. No, it is a month-to-month rental rate, no endowment fee requested. A security deposit is required, however, which is transferable to our other campus facilities.
Q. What is included with the month-to-month rent?
A. The monthly rental fee includes: 2 meals per day, weekly housekeeping, scheduled transportation to and from shopping and other activities, beauty/barber shop, all utilities including cable or satellite TV depending on location (excluding telephone), complete building and grounds maintenance, and peace of mind for your family knowing someone is at our desk 24 hours per day.
   
Q. How quickly may I rent an apartment?
A. Apartments are rented upon availability. If there is not an apartment available at that particular moment, you may pay your deposit and be placed on our waiting list. As an apartment becomes available, you will be called, at which time you may accept or decline.
   
Q. Do you allow pets?
A. We do not allow pets in the Estates.
   
Q. I’m using a cane / walker. Am I allowed admission to the retirement apartments?
A. Yes, if you are independent with the use of a cane / walker, and your physician deems you appropriate for independent living.
   
Q. Do you offer garages for vehicles?
A. Yes, please check with the manager for availability and monthly charge.
   
Q. What activities are offered?
A. Many different activities are offered at our campus such as: card games; fitness; outings at various restaurants and theaters, etc.

Hawthorne Inn (Supportive Living offering Personalized Care) FAQ

Q. Just what is Supportive Living?
A. Supportive Living is a program designed for persons 65 years old or better that provides personalized services that promote independence, respect, privacy and dignity while living in a homelike environment. Our goal is to keep people as independent as possible, for as long as possible.
   
Q. How do I qualify for the financial assistance program?
A. The financial assistance program is overseen by the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services. Even a person receiving the minimum amount of Social Security Benefits can qualify. You are allowed a maximum of $2000.00 in assets and one car is exempt. The Hawthorne Inn staff are well trained in the process and can provide you with an application for the assistance. All financial information is confidential.
   
Q. What services are available at the Hawthorne Inn?
A. The well trained staff will assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing and grooming. Medication assistance and reminders are also available. Weekly housekeeping and laundry services are provided in a maintenance free environment. Our nutritious and delicious meals are served 3 times a day. There are a variety of activities available such as cards, crafts, exercises, and shopping excursions.
   
Q. Are canes or walkers allowed at the Hawhorne Inn?
A. Yes, we also have residents here who use wheelchairs.
   
Q. Can I bring my car?
A. Yes. There are designated parking places just for the residents of the Hawthorne Inn.
   
Q. Do you accept Medicaid payments?
A. Yes. We are a Medicaid certified facility.
   
Q. Do you accept Medicare payments?
A. No. However, a person needing Physical or Occupational Therapy can utilize their Medicare Part B, to pay for those services. Some skilled nursing services are also covered.

Q. Does Medicare pay for anything at Assisted Living?
A. Room and Board charges are not covered in Assisted Living under Medicare Part A. Medicare Part B and some home health benefits may apply to qualified residents.
   
Q. How do your prices compare to your competitors?
A. The prices at the Hawthorne Inn are much less than what you would typically find at a nursing home. The prices vary with the services that each individual needs. Prices are reasonably set and are a great value!
   
Q. What is included in the price?
A. We offer care depending on the needs of each individual. Prices always include monthly rental of suite or apartment, three meals a day, all utilities (except telephone), satellite TV, and social and recreational activities.
   
Q. Will Mom or Dad ever have to leave Assisted Living?
A. We offer services typically given in nursing home, including assistance with bathing, grooming, medications, meals, activities plus other services offered in nursing homes. Many of our residents never have to move to a nursing home.
   
Q. Do we accept Medicaid payments?
A. No, at the Manor Court Assisted Living we are not Medicaid certified, however Hawthorne Inn is Medicaid certified.
   
Q. Do you offer respite care?
A. Yes, many families are so pleased to have a temporary place for their loved one to be while they enjoy their vacation. There is no need to worry if Mom/Dad remembered to take his/her medication or have eaten nutritious meals. We also have short-term stays for those recuperating after a hospital stay.
   

Manor Court (Skilled Nursing Care) FAQ

Q. Will Medicare pay for Dad/Mom’s stay at the Manor?
A. Medicare Part A generally covers a short term stay while receiving skilled nursing or therapy services. The amount of coverage depends on individual needs. Medicare Part A will only cover up to 100 days for a spell of illness, and specific criteria must be met in order for Medicare to cover.
   
Q. Will Medicaid cover any expenses for Dad/Mom’s stay?
A. Yes, Manor Court is Medicaid certified, just contact us and check for availability.
   
Q. Can Dad/Mom leave the facility with us?
A. Yes, the residents are free to come and go as they please.
   
Q. If Dad or Mom spends his/her money down to the point where he/she can no longer afford the Manor, what would we do?
A. The Manor Court is Medicaid certified. Please check for availability of a Medicaid certified bed.
   
Q. Can Dad/Mom have a private room?
A. Our skilled nursing facilities offer private and semi-private rooms. Just contact us to check the availability.
   
Q. What about the meals, do we have a choice of what to eat?
A. A choice of entrée is offered to each resident with each meal and accommodates special diets.
   
Q. Do you have satellite TV?
A. Yes, we have satellite TV in our Manor, and it’s included in the daily room rate.
